Frigidaire Refrigerators Recalled for Broken Plastic in Ice
In February 2024, about 383,000 side-by-side Frigidaire refrigerators were recalled because plastic can break off and fall into the ice dispenser, posing a choking hazard and a risk of laceration injuries.
What is the Problem?
The recalled refrigerators have an ice bucket assembly component that can break, resulting in plastic pieces entering the ice bucket. The problem poses choking and laceration hazards to consumers if the pieces are dispensed out of the ice bucket, according to the recall.
What Happened?
The manufacturer has received 343 reports of plastic pieces breaking off. At least 2 people suffered laceration and ingestion injuries when the pieces were dispensed out of the recalled ice bucket.
How To Identify Recalled Refrigerators
The recall involves side-by-side Frigidaire Refrigerators with Slim Ice buckets that were manufactured between 2015 and 2019.
The recalled refrigerators have model numbers DGHK2355TF, DGHX2655TF, FFSC2323TS, FGSC2335TD, FGSC2335TF, FGSS2635TD, FGSS2635TE, FGSS2635TF, FGSS2635TP, FPSC2277RF, FPSC2278UF, FPSS2677RF, LFSC2324VF, LGHK2336TD, LGHK2336TF, LGHX2636TD, and LGHX2636TF.
They were sold nationwide at Lowe’s, Home Depot and other stores and online at Frigidaire.com from November 2015 through September 2019 for between $1,400 and $2,400.

What Should I Do?
Locate your refrigerator’s model and serial numbers on a label inside the refrigerator. Check if your refrigerator is being recalled by visiting the recall website at http://www.icebucketrecall.com/.
If your refrigerator is part of the recall, you can register for a free replacement ice bucket assembly component. In the meantime, the manufacturer is asking consumers to stop using the ice makers.
