Gobi Heat Hand Warmers Recalled for Fire and Burn Hazards
In October 2026, Gobi Heat recalled about 5,500 rechargeable hand warmers in the U.S. because the battery can overheat and ignite. The company, Dragon Gear Inc. of Severance, Colorado, also recalled about 47 hand warmers that were sold in Canada. No injuries were reported, but the recalled hand warmers pose serious fire and burn injury hazards.
What Is the Problem With the Recalled Hand Warmers?
The hand warmers are powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The problem is that this battery and the electrical components inside the hand warmers can overheat and ignite. A hand warmer is used inside a glove or pocket, so it may be directly against a person’s skin when it overheats.
Gobi Heat describes the hazard on its own recall page as a “risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards.” The company names OCOOPA Innovation Corp. as the importer and manufacturer.
How Many People Were Injured?
No injuries were reported when the recall was announced, according to the CPSC. If you were injured or experienced an incident, you can report it to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
