Gyroor E-Bikes Recalled for Battery Fire Hazard
In December 2022, about 3,300 Gyroor C3 e-bikes were recalled because the lithium-ion battery pack can catch on fire. Two people needed medical attention for burn injuries after a Gyroor e-bike battery fire, according to the recall notice.
What is the Problem?
The company said “there are hidden dangers in the battery packs of some Gyroor C3 electric bicycles.” Specifically, the battery packs can be ignited, which poses a risk of burns injuries and smoke inhalation.
Foot Burns and Smoke Inhalation Reported
There were 2 reports of the battery packs catching on fire, including 2 people who were injured and needed medical attention, including burns to a person’s foot and smoke inhalation.
10S4P Battery Linked to E-Bike Fire Hazard
The problem is linked to the 10S4P battery pack manufactured by Warteam New Energy (Guang Dong) Co., Ltd., according to a recall posted on the Gyroor website at gyroor.com/pages/recall.
Gyroor is asking consumers to contact the company for information on how to receive a new battery pack.
What E-Bikes Were Recalled?
The recall involves Gyroor C3 E-Bikes, which can be identified by “C3” printed on the a label on the seat tube. The serial number starts with 8330 and it is printed on the frame below the headlights.
They were sold from November 2020 through September 2022 online at www.amazon.com, www.gyroor.com, www.gyroorboard.com, and www.walmart.com for about $600.
