July 21, 2022 — About 32,500 hammock stands from Lowe’s have been recalled after reports of the weld breaking, including 2 people who fell and suffered injuries.
The recall involves Key West® Knock Down Hammock Stands, manufactured by The Hammock Source.
They were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide and online from October 2020 through May 2022 for about $120.
The problem is that the weld attaching the stand to the base can break, posing a fall hazard.
The Hammock Source issued the recall after receiving 9 reports of the stands breaking at the base, including 2 reports of people who fell and suffered scrapes and bruises.
The recalled hammock stands are made of 8 pieces of steel tubing powder coated in bronze. They were sold under the Key West® brand with the model code KW-KDBRZ.
The manufacturer is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled hammock stands and contact The Hammock Source for instructions on receiving a full refund.
