580,000 Beds Recalled After 36 People Injured in Falls
In January 2024, over 580,000 Home Design Platform Beds were recalled after 36 people fell and were injured when the beds broke, collapsed, or sagged.
What Happened?
Home Design said it received 128 reports of the beds breaking, sagging, or collapsing during use. The problem poses a fall hazard and a risk of serious injuries to consumers. At least 36 people were injured when the beds broke during use, according to the recall.
How To Identify Recalled Beds
The recall involves about 527,177 beds sold in the U.S., plus another 55,847 beds that were sold in Canada.
These beds were sold online at Wayfair, Walmart.com, and Overstock.com from July 2018 through November 2023 for between $100 and $300.
This recall involves all of the following platform beds:
- Home Design Part number 80002 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds
- Home Design Part number 80032 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds
- Home Design Part number 80055 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds
- Home Design Part number 80071 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Beds
- Home Design Part number 80053 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Beds
