June 18, 2020 — The HON Company has recalled about 13,400 Gateway and Maxon office chairs due to a fall and injury hazard.
The problem is that the chair back can break off. HON has received 11 reports of the back breaking and 2 people who suffered minor injuries.
The recall involves HON Gateway office chairs with model numbers HGTMM and HGV1MM that were manufactured between February 2019 and February 2020.
HON also recalled Maxon MXMO-series office chairs with model numbers M-SEMO201 and M-SEMX101.
They have a black mesh see-through back and a 5-star base with wheels. There is a label under the seat with the model and manufacturing date.
They were sold for $135 to $250 at HON or Maxon dealers nationwide and also online at Staples.com and OfficeDepot.com from February 2019 through February 2020.
