13,600 Frigidaire Gas Stacked Washer-Dryers Recalled After 23 Fires Reported
In July 2023, Electrolux Group recalled about 13,600 Frigidaire® Gas Stacked Washer-Dryer Laundry Centers after nearly two dozen dryer fires were reported due to lint accumulation.
What is the Problem?
The recalled Frigidaire® Gas Laundry Centers have a felt seal on the dryer drum that can fold inward and accumulate lint, which creates a fire hazard. There were 23 reports of dryer fires linked to the problem.
Dryer Fires Linked to Smoke Inhalation Injury
There was one report of a person who suffered a smoke inhalation injury when their dryer caught on fire. The risk is greatest for people who have pre-existing lung or heart conditions.
Was My Dryer Recalled?
The recall involves all Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers in white or titanium colors with model numbers:
- FFLG4033QW (Serial Numbers 4E44114739 through 4E81603034)
- FFLG4033QT (Serial Numbers 4E44308482 through 4E81603380)
They were sold nationwide at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and other appliance stores between October 2014 and April 2018 for about $1,400. The recall does not involve the washer part of the unit.

Electrolux Settles Lawsuits Involving Dryer Fires
Electrolux has previously agreed to pay an $8 million class action settlement to resolve claims that certain dryers can catch on fire when lint builds up.
The settlement (which is now closed) involves consumers who bought certain free-standing ball-hitch dryers between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2011 under brand-names such as Frigidaire, White Westinghouse, Kelvinator, Gibson, Tappan, Crosley or Kenmore.
The class action claimed that the dryers were defective because lint can accumulate inside the machine near a heat source, which creates a fire hazard. Consumers also allege that they would not have bought this product if they had known about the fire hazard.
The deadline to file a claim was December 31, 2022, so consumers are no longer eligible to join the class action or receive a payout.
The class action was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California — Case Number 8:12-cv-01644.
