October 29, 2019 — Michigan apples were recalled in 8 states after a product tested positive for Listeria.
The recall involves a variety of apples that were distributed by North Bay Produce, Inc., of Traverse City, Michigan.
The company recalled approximately 2,297 cases and 2 bulk bins of apples that were delivered to retailers in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin between October 16, 2019 and October 21, 2019.
The apple varieties include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac, and Red Delicious.
The apples were sold in plastic bags labeled with brand-names such as Great Lakes®, North Bay Produce®, or Pure Michigan®. Some of the apples were also sold without brand-names in clear plastic tote bags, white paper tote bags, or individually from retail display trays.
The recall was issued after a test on a finished product was positive for Listeria monocytogenes. In response, the company immediately stopped production and distribution from the facility.
