June 2, 2025 — A lawsuit has been filed by a woman who was burned when scalding-hot food exploded out of a Ninja Blender.
The lawsuit was filed by Shana S., a woman from Tennessee who was burned in December 2023 while using a Ninja Blender.
The specific product is identified as the Nutri Pro Compact Personal Blender with Auto-iQ Technology (Model Number BN401).
She claims that the fast-spinning blades can unexpectedly heat up the contents of the Single-Serve Cup, which may explode and cause burn injuries or lacerations:
“If the Single-Serve Cup explodes, or if the Pro Extractor Blades Assembly explodes off the Single-Serve Cup, the user is at risk of severe burns or lacerations.”
According to her complaint, she was using the blender to make oatmeal for her daughter. After adding cold milk, room-temperature oatmeal, and protein powder to the cup, she ran the Smoothie cycle.
When it was done, she took the cup off the base. She claims that as soon as she put the cup on the counter, the blade assembly lid “exploded” off the cup, covering her in scalding-hot food.
She suffered 2nd-degree burns to her chest, arm, hand, neck, and face, according to the complaint.
Her lawsuit accuses the Ninja Nutri Pro Blender manufacturer, SharkNinja Operating LLC, of failing to issue a recall, selling defective blenders, and failing to warn customers about the risk.
Her lawsuit was filed on May 16, 2025 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (Norfolk Superior Court) — Civil Case No.: 2582CV00550.
