UPDATE: SharkNinja Hit With Lawsuit for Ninja Blender Injuries

In July 2021, yet another Ninja blender lawsuit was filed against SharkNinja by a person who suffered gruesome injuries.

The lawsuit was filed by Nicole G., a woman who said her Nutri Ninja BL480 blender shot off its base, exposing the spinning razor-sharp blades. Her hand was severely injured, with cuts down to the bone.

In her lawsuit, she accuses SharkNinja of selling defective Ninja® blenders that create too much pressure, fail to lock the canister to the base, and pose a major laceration hazard from the sharp blades.

What is a Ninja Blender?

Ninja® blenders have 6 razor-sharp blades that are stacked on a vertical column in the pitcher. Unfortunately, the blades are not locked into place. If a person takes off the lid, the blades can fall out.

Types of Ninja Blenders

  • Ninja Nutri Blender
  • Ninja® Nutri-Blender Pro
  • Ninja® Nutri-Blender Plus
  • Ninja® Nutri Professional
  • Ninja® Professional Blender
  • Ninja® Nutri-Pro Compact Personal Blender
  • Ninja® Foodi Blenders
  • And more

Razor-Sharp Blades Can Fall Out of Blenders

When a user pours out their smoothie or other blended-up food, the loose blades can fall out and cause severe cuts or laceration injuries. In other cases, the loose blades have fallen out of the pitcher into a cup that the person was pouring their smoothie into, and they were cut when they tried to remove the razor-sharp blades from the cup.

SharkNinja Recalls 1.1 Million Blenders After 53 Laceration Injuries Reported

In November 2015, SharkNinja recalled more than 1.1 million Ninja® BL660 blenders after 53 people suffered severe lacerations.

SharkNinja says the risk can be avoided by locking the lid and pouring through the spout, or by removing the lid and blades before pouring. However, many consumers are not aware of the risk.

The recalled blenders have model numbers beginning with BL 660, BL 663 or BL 665. They were sold between March 2012 and September 2015 at stores like Bath & Beyond, Costco, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target, Walmart, online, and other retailers. Click here to read more.

Ninja Blender Lawsuits & Class Actions

Many lawsuits have been filed against SharkNinja by people who were injured by Ninja blenders. Here are a few examples:

  • In February 2021, a lawsuit was filed by a woman who suffered severe laceration injuries to her thumb when the blades fell out of a Ninja Blender (Model BL 700).
  • In March 2020, a judge refused to let SharkNinja escape a Ninja blender class action lawsuit filed by Krystal W., a woman who alleged that “a blender with razor sharp blades that are not secured during operation is not fit for its ordinary purpose.”
  • In April 2019, a lawsuit was filed by a woman who was injured when the blades fell out of her Nutri Ninja Blender Duo.
