UPDATE: Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp Recall
In May 2025, SharkNinja announced a recall for over 1.8 million Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp Air Fryers / Multi-Function Pressure Cookers after dozens of lawsuit and more than 100 burn injuries.
SharkNinja warned that the pressure-cooking lid can be opened during use, causing hot contents to escape, posing a burn hazard.
There were 106 reports of people who were burned, including more than 50 reports involving severe 2nd- or 3rd-degree burns to the face or body. There were also 26 lawsuits filed for burn injuries.
The recalled pressure cookers were sold nationwide at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Target, and online from January 2019 to March 2025 for about $200.
What is the Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp?
SharkNinja Operating LLC manufactures the Ninja® Foodi™ TenderCrisp, a multi-cooker that combines a pressure cooker and an air fryer. The appliance has an electronic pressure cooker pot, which is sealed with a lid that is also an air fryer, broiler, or bake/roaster.
Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp Lawsuit Filed by Burned Woman
In April 2023, a woman from Rhode Island filed a lawsuit after she was burned when the lid exploded off of her Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp.
The plaintiff, Carrie S., alleges that she was burned in January 2021 while using her Ninja Foodi 9-in-1 6.5-Qt. Electric Pressure Cooker & Air Fryer with TenderCrisp Technology (Model Number OP301 LP3).
In her lawsuit, she claims that the “safety features” failed to function — specifically the locking lid, which did not prevent the lid from opening until all of the pressure was released.
Instead, she claims that the “contents of the pressure cooker were forcefully ejected out of the pot and onto Plaintiff, causing severe, disfiguring burns.”
She is seeking compensation for her medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish, diminished quality of life, and other economic and non-economic damages.
The Ninja Foodi TenderCrisp Lawsuit was filed against SharkNinja Operating LLC on April 4, 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts — Case Number 1:23-cv-10720-LTS.
