Nutrex Pressure Cooker Recall
In August 2018, Rena Ware International announced a recall for about 700 of the Nutrex Pressure Cookers due to the risk of serious burn injuries.
How Many People Were Injured?
There have been 13 reports of unintended depressurization and 5 people who suffered burn injuries from a Nutrex Pressure Cooker.
What is the Problem?
The problem is that Nutrex Pressure Cookers can depressurize unintentionally if the lid is opened before the pressure cooker has released all of the pressure. This can create an explosion of scalding-hot steam and food that causes burn injuries to anyone nearby.
“The recalled pressure cookers can discharge steam at lower pressures than intended, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
