June 3, 2022 — Paris Brothers Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri, has recalled a variety of cheeses in 9 states due to a risk of Listeria food poisoning.
The recall involves certain varieties of cheese that were produced on May 4, 5 and 6, 2022. They were shipped in cartons marked with Lot Codes 05042022, 05052022, or 05062022.
The products were delivered to stores in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, one store in Mississippi, and one store in Florida.
The cheese may have been re-packed or re-labeled by these individual stores, which could make it harder for consumers to identify.
Consumers can check the recall notice to see a list of individual stores where the cheese was sold.
The following types of cheese are affected by the recall:
- Cottonwood River Cheddar
- D’amir Brie Double Crème French Brie
- Milton Prairie Breeze White Cheddar Style
- Milton Tomato Garlic Cheddar
- Paris Brothers Mild Cheddar
- Paris Brothers Colby Jack
- Paris Brothers Pepper Jack
- Cervasi Pecorino Romano
No illnesses were reported. Instead, the recall was issued after a routine FDA test was positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning.
