January 20, 2023 — Seven people were burned in a fire at the Phillips 66 oil refinery tank farm in Borger, Texas.
Three men with 2nd-degree burns were treated at a local hospital in Borger.
Four other men were transported in critical condition with severe burn injuries to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas, according to The Eagle Press.
The fire and explosion occurred on January 17 at the Johnson Tank Farm, which is part of the Phillips 66 Borger Oil Refinery Complex.
Crews responded to the fire at around 10:15 a.m. and extinguished it by 12 p.m., according to the City of Borger and the Hutchison County Office of Emergency Management.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, according to a spokesperson for Phillips 66.
