January 14, 2020 — Lipari Foods has expanded a recall to include more Premo® and Fresh Grab® sandwiches that may be contaminated with Listeria.
Lipari Foods issued an earlier recall on January 6 for a variety of wedge sandwiches.
No illnesses have been reported. The recalls were issued after Lipari Foods’ manufacturer, JLM, reported a positive test for Listeria monocytogenes in environmental sampling inside their facility.
Lipari Foods began shipping the recalled sandwiches on January 3, 2020. They were distributed to food service and stores throughout Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
They are marked with “best-by” dates of 1/23/2020 or 1/21/2020.
The expanded recall for Fresh Grab sandwiches includes varieties such as Breakfast Muffin, Chicken & Swiss, and Turkey & Swiss.
The previous Fresh Grab sandwich recall involves wedge sandwiches, such as Ham/American, Egg Salad, Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, and Turkey.
The expanded recall for Premo sandwiches includes the Meat Lover’s Sub, Pub Burger, Turkey & Cheese on Pretzel Sub, Turkey & Swiss sandwich, and Turkey & Garlic Mayo sandwich.
The previous Premo sandwich recall involves wedge sandwiches, such as Egg Salad, Ham & Cheese, Chicken Salad, and Tuna Salad.
Listeria infections can cause severe pregnancy complications, bloodstream infections, sepsis, brain inflammation, meningitis, or death. The symptoms may not appear for up to 70 days after eating contaminated food, or as early as the same day the food was eaten.
