June 29, 2017 — Hampton Farms is recalling another 650 tubs of roasted cashews and almonds that were sold only in New Jersey due to a risk of Listeria food poisoning.
No illnesses have been reported, but infections with Listeria can be very serious or deadly — especially for children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
The recall was expanded after its supplier, Hudson Valley Foods Inc. of Highland, NY, advised Hampton Farms that ingredients were potentially contaminated with the food poisoning bacteria Listeria monocytognes.
The expanded recall involves the following products:
- Ava’s 8 oz Organic Roasted Unsalted Cashews: UPC 8-10111-01036-8, Lot# 11817 Exp 4/28/18, Lot# 12617 Exp 5/1/18, Lot#15917 Exp 6/5/18
- Ava’s 8 oz Organic Roasted Unsalted Almonds UPC 8-10111-01032-0, Lot#10217 Exp 4/10/18
The following Ava’s product was previously recalled on May 26, 2017, estimating that fewer than 225 of the 8-oz tubs of the product were sold in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut:

Healthy people who eat food contaminated with Listeria may suffer high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In some cases, the infection spreads beyond the intestines and causes meningitis, sepsis (blood poisoning), or death. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages for pregnant women.
