December 23, 2022 — Something South African LLC has recalled certain Pepper Collection Gift Sets from World Market stores nationwide due to toxic mold contamination.
The recall involves the Peppercorn Collection Gift Set, which contains 8 glass tubes filled with different types of dried peppercorns.
The problem is that the Malaysian Long Pepper tested positive for a mold, Aspergillus brasiliensis, and a toxin called Ochratoxin A.
The product is marked with a Best Before End (BBE) date of JUN/2024 and Batch 494951-T.
No illnesses were reported in the recall, but the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that Ochratoxin A primarily harms kidney function. It can also have side effects on fetal development and the immune system.
The manufacturer is asking consumers to bought or received the recalled Pepper Collection Gift Set from World Market to dispose of the Malaysian Long Pepper or return it for a full refund.
