October 14, 2019 — Jumbo Foods Inc. of Washington has issued a recall for Tuscan Sun® chicken salad sandwiches due to a risk of Listeria contamination.
No illnesses have been reported, but infections with Listeria can be very serious or deadly. Pregnant women may also suffer miscarriage, stillbirth, or life-threatening infection of the newborn.
The recalled chicken salad sandwiches were distributed to food service and retail stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
The following frozen sandwiches were recalled:
- TS Bacon Ranch Salad
- TS Cranberry Chicken Salad on 9 Grain
- TS Chipotle Chicken Salad on 9 Grain
- TS Chicken Salad on 9 Grain
The following refrigerated sandwiches were recalled:
- TS Bacon Ranch Chicken Salad on 9 grain
- TS Cranberry Chicken Salad on 9 grain
- TS Chipolte Chicken Salad on 9 grain
- TS Chicken Salad on 9 grain
- TS Chicken Salad Wedges
Jumbo Foods Inc. began shipping these frozen or refrigerated sandwiches between March 11, 2019 and September 27, 2019. Frozen sandwiches have no sell-by date and an 8-month s helf life.
This recall was issued in response to a previous recall by Tip Top Poultry for fully-cooked poultry products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
