VIVI E-Bike Batteries Recalled for Fire Hazard
In July 2025, VIVI E-Bikes announced a recall for about 24,000 lithium-ion batteries because they can overheat, catch on fire, or explode, which presents a fire hazard and burn injury risk.
How Many Fires Were Reported?
No injuries were reported, but VIVI said it is “aware of 14 reports of incidents of batteries overheating, including three reports of fires.”
How To Identify Recalled VIVI E-Bike Batteries
The recall involves 36-Volt rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that were included with certain “VIVI”-branded e-bikes that were sold before November 2023. These e-bikes have “VIVI” printed on the downtube.
You can find your e-bike model number on the sales order document. The model number may also be printed on certain bicycle frames.
The battery model number information is printed on the battery itself.

What Should I Do?
VIVI is urging customers to immediately stop using and charging the e-bike batteries, and visit the recall website to register for a free replacement battery and charger: https://viviebikes.com/pages/recall.
Lithium-Ion Battery Fire & Burn Hazards
E-bikes are powered by lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are lightweight, powerful, and recharge quickly, making them ideal for bicycles. The problem is that they can also overheat and catch on fire, or even explode.
Burn injuries from defective lithium-ion batteries can be extremely serious or deadly, especially if they occur when a person is in close contact with the battery, or the fire spreads in a home.
