April 30, 2020 — A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Walmart after two employees died of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections at the same store in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
The employee’s family accuses Walmart of not doing enough to protect its workers.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a man who died on March 25 due to complications of coronavirus. He was sent home from work at Walmart just 2 days before his death, according to the lawsuit.
Walmart is accused of failing to sanitize the store properly, failing to implement social distance for employees, failing to provide protective equipment such as masks or gloves, and failing to ban sick employees from coming to work.
Walmart is also accused of failing to warn employees that their co-workers had symptoms of COVID-19, or send exposed employees home until they were cleared by medical professionals.
