May 15, 2024 — Walmart has recalled Great Value® Organic Black Chia Seeds due to a risk of Salmonella.
The recall involves one lot of Walmart’s store-brand Great Value® Organic Black Chia Seeds (32-oz. size) with Lot Code 24095 C018, Expiration Date October 30, 2026, and UPC 078742300665.
The products can be identified by the main label on the pouch, which has the lot code, BB: OCT 30 2026, and “Product of Uganda.” The label can be found on the back of the package at the bottom.
The chia seeds were imported from Uganda and shipped to Walmart stores nationwide.
No illnesses were reported, but infections with Salmonella can be severe or life-threatening. Adults may experience symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
