Wegmans Camembert Cheese Recalled for Listeria Risk

In August 2025, Wegmans Food Markets Inc. announced a recall for Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, and products containing this cheese, due to a risk of food poisoning infections with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

Did Anyone Get Sick?

No illnesses were reported as of August 12, 2025, but people who eat cheese that is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may develop serious food poisoning and other life-threatening infections.

According to the FDA warning:

“Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”

How To Identify Recalled Cheese

The recalled products containing Wegmans Camembert Cheese were sold between July 1 and August 12, 2025. These products include:

  • Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese — 8.8 OZ, UPC: 77890-53515 with best by dates of 7/26/25, 8/12/25, and 8/19/25
  • Wegmans Assorted Cheese Flight — 1 LB, UPC: 2-77100-00000-0
  • Wegmans Grilling Camembert with Tapenade & Roasted Tomatoes — 10 OZ, UPC: 2-77297-00000-0
  • Wegmans Caramel Apple Pecan Topped Brie Cheese — 13 OZ, UPC: 2-77645-00000-3

Where Was It Sold?

The recalled Wegmans Camembert Cheese products were sold in the cheese department of all Wegmans stores in the following states:

  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia
  • Washington, D.C.

What Happened?

The cheese is a product of France that was supplied to Wegmans by a distributor. It was recalled after the French supplier reported that 3 shipments may be contaminated with Listeria , according to the recall. No illnesses were reported to Wegmans or the supplier.

What Should I Do?

Wegmans is alerting customers about the recall using “Shoppers Club” information and automated phone calls. Wegmans is warning people not to eat the cheese, and urging anyone who bought the recalled products to return them to the service desk for a full refund.
