Overview
The Wright Dynasty Acetabular Cup System is a hip replacement component that was approved in October 2009. It is a modular cup that is designed with Biofoam™, a bone-like titanium with a rough texture that promotes bone ingrowth and “bites” into existing bone for enhanced fixation.
Wright Dynasty Hip Implant Lawsuits
Wright Medical Technology was hit with thousands of lawsuits from people who were injured by defective metal hip implants. Lawsuits involving the Conserve, ProFemur, Dynasty, and Lineage hip replacements are currently overseen by District Judge William S. Duffey in the Northern District of Georgia:
Metal-on-Metal Hip Implants
When the Dynasty Acetabular Cup is used with a metal femoral head, a metal-on-metal hip implant is created. The FDA has published Safety Warnings about the unique risks of all-metal implants. When a patient walks, the metal parts grind together. The friction can cause tiny particles of metal to accumulate in the hip joint and cause pain, swelling, soft-tissue growths, systemic reactions, and other side effects that require revisions surgery.
