February 24, 2023 — Walmart recalled 1.2 million Mainstays Three-Wick Candles because the glass can break, posing fire and injury risks.
The recall involves 7 scents that were sold for Halloween and autumn, including: Jack-O-Lantern, Mystic Fog, Warm Apple Pie, Warm Fall Leaves, Fall Farm House, Pumpkin Spice and Magic Potion.
The candles came in a round 14-oz. glass jar with a metal lid. The name of the scent and the brand “Mainstays” are printed on the front.
The problem is that the wick can burn too close to the edge of the glass, which can cause the glass to break or light nearby items on fire, according to the recall. There was one report of a fire, one person who suffered a minor cut, and multiple reports of damage to nearby items.
The candles sold for about $7 exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide, and online at www.walmart.com.
