32 Degrees Heated Socks Recalled After 13 Burn Injuries Reported

In April 2026, David Peyser Sportswear d/b/a 32 Degrees recalled approximately 207,806 heated socks due to a burn hazard. The recall was announced on April 23, 2026, and was coordinated with the CPSC.

Where Were They Sold?

The socks were sold exclusively at Costco stores and online at Costco.com from August 2025 through March 2026, priced between $30 and $46.

What Is the Problem?

According to the CPSC, when worn during high-intensity activities that generate a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture, and pressure, the socks can pose an injury hazard including burns.

“When worn during high-intensity activities that generate a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture and pressure, the socks can pose an injury hazard including burns.”

The socks are battery-powered heated socks designed to keep feet warm during outdoor and physical activities. The combination of the heating element and the physical conditions created during vigorous use has been linked to reports of serious burn injuries to consumers’ feet.

How Many People Were Burned?

The CPSC has confirmed 14 heat-related incidents involving the recalled 32 Degrees Heated Socks. Of those, 13 involved first- or second-degree burns.

First-degree burns affect the outer layer of skin and may involve redness, pain, and minor swelling. Second-degree burns are more serious, penetrating deeper layers of skin and potentially requiring medical attention.

  • 13 of those involved first- or second-degree burns
