June 28, 2022 — A woman who was burned by a Bella Pressure Cooker has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer, Sensio Inc.
The lawsuit was filed by Mialisa M., a woman from Wisconsin who alleges that she was burned by a defective Bella 6-Quart 10-in-1 Multicooker (Model Number M-60B23G).
She alleges that in July 2019, she suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” when she was able to easily twist open the lid when her pressure cooker was still pressurized.
Opening the lid before it was safe allowed “its scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker” and all over her body, according to the complaint.
She blames the incident on the failure of the pressure cooker’s supposed “safety locking lid,” which was advertised with the following claim: “The lid will not come off when it is in the LOCK position.”
Sensio is accused of selling a defective pressure cooker, failing to warn customers about the serious risk of burn injuries, and failing to issue a recall or redesign the product to make it safer.
The Bellla Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on June 20, 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin — Case Number 3:22-cv-00340.
