UPDATE: Pull-String Teething Toys Recalled for Choking Hazards

In January 2026, U.S. safety officials announced another recall for baby teething toys that have been linked to serious choking incidents, including reports of children who were able to bite off small pieces of the toy.

This recall involves about 49,410 AiTuiTui Pull-String Teething Toys that were sold on Amazon.com from August 2022 to September 2025 for about $10.

They were imported to the U.S. by a company in China doing business as “Vanfun,” an online seller on Amazon.

There were 15 choking incidents and 2 incidents of children who were able to bite off pieces of the silicone strings, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Safety officials warned that the recalled teething toys violate mandatory safety standards because the silicone strings are smaller than permitted:

“The silicone strings can reach the back of the throat and become lodged, posing a risk of respiratory distress, serious choking hazard, and death.”

The manufacturer is urging customers to immediately stop using the teething toy and take it away from children. You can contact Vanfun for a full refund at recallmls@outlook.com.

Yetonamr Teething Toys Recalled on Amazon for Choking Hazard

In January 2026, U.S. safety officials announced yet another recall for teething toys sold on Amazon due to a choking hazard.

This recall involved a toy sold on Amazon called the Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toy. The recall involved about 6,800 toys, which were linked to 32 choking incidents.

The problem is that the silicone pull-string “tentacles” can reach the back of a child’s throat and get stuck. This poses a choking hazard, as well as a risk of respiratory distress and death.

According to the CPSC warning for parents and caregivers:

“The silicone strings can reach the back of the throat and become lodged, posing a risk of respiratory distress, serious choking hazard and death.”

Teething Toy Choking Hazards

Teething toys are widespread on the market, but parents should be vigilant because some products are not safe for infants. In recent years, thousands of teething toys have been recalled because they have small parts that can become lodged in a child’s throat.

What is the Problem?

Small pieces from a teething toy can pose a choking hazard and other serious safety risks, including respiratory distress and death.

There have been reports of children who were able to bite off small pieces of a teething toy, which poses a choking hazard. These pieces are especially dangerous because parents may not be immediately aware that their child has swallowed a small piece of a toy.

Signs & Symptoms of Infant Choking

According to the American Red Cross, signs and symptoms that an infant is choking may include:

  • Weak or no cough
  • High-pitched squeaking noises or no sound
  • Pale or blue skin color
  • Unable to cough or cry
  • Panicked, confused or surprised appearance
