What Was Recalled and Why?

In June 2026, Beekeeper’s Naturals recalled Lot 5950 of its Saline Nasal Spray after it tested above its acceptable microbiological limits for yeast. The nasal spray may also contain Aspergillus spp., a type of mold, according to the recall.

Where Was It Sold?

The recalled nasal spray bottles were sold through Amazon. According to Beekeeper’s Naturals, the recall affects about 585 units that were sold through Amazon between April 2 and April 24, 2026. The lot was produced at a 3rd-party manufacturer and was mistakenly shipped to Amazon before test results came back, the company explained.

The FDA described the risk:

“In the population most at risk, such as people with weakened immune systems or lung diseases, there is a reasonable probability that use of the product with Aspergillus spp. contamination will cause serious and life-threatening infections such as invasive sinusitis and lung infections.”

What Is the Risk From Aspergillus and Yeast?

Aspergillus is a common type of mold that is often found in indoor and outdoor environments. People with healthy immune systems may breathe in spores of Aspergillus every day without getting sick. However, people with pre-existing immune system issues or other underlying health problems can develop infections.

The danger from a contaminated nasal spray is that Aspergillus or yeast could be delivered directly to the lining of the nose or the sinuses, which may already be inflamed or irritated due to an underlying health issue.

In people with weakened immune systems or chronic lung disease, Aspergillus in the sinuses can lead to invasive fungal sinusitis, where the mold grows into tissue and spreads to other parts of the body.

The product also tested above acceptable limits for yeast, which is another type of fungus that is common in the environment. Drug products that contain water are prone to microbial growth, which is why the FDA limits the total yeast and mold counts.

How Many People Were Affected?

As of June 12, 2026, Beekeeper’s Naturals said it had received 4 reports from customers who experienced health issues or “adverse reactions” that might be related to the recalled spray, including sinus congestion, irritation or infection. No hospitalizations or deaths have been reported in connection with the recall.
