GASGAS and Husqvarna Motorcycles Recalled Over Rear Brake Failure
In August 2026, KTM North America recalled approximately 21,040 GASGAS and Husqvarna off-road motorcycles due to a problem with the braking system that poses a crash hazard. According to the CPSC, the rear brake caliper can crack or break. This may reduce the effectiveness of the brake system, which poses a significant injury hazard. However, no injuries or deaths have been linked to the problem described in this recall.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled motorcycles were sold by GASGAS and Husqvarna dealers nationwide from September 2020 through June 2023. Each bike cost between $7,300 and $13,000, depending on features and upgrades.
What is the Problem?
The underlying problem is with the rear brake caliper. KTM Austria received the first report of a cracked pin in March 2024. The investigation into the root cause was completed by November 2024, which resulted in a redesign on current models of off-road motorcycles.
According to the CPSC description:
“The rear brake caliper can crack or break, reducing the brake system’s effectiveness, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to crash hazard.”

- Model years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024
- Husqvarna models include TE 150, TE 150i, TE 250, TE 250i, TE 300, TE 300i, FE 350, FE 350w, FE 450, FE 501, FE 501w, FX 350, FX 450, TX 300, and related “Heritage” trims
- GASGAS models include EC 250, EC 300, EC 450F, EX 250, EX 250F, EX 300, EX 350F, EX 450F, EW 500F, and MC 125, 250, 250F, 350F, and 450F
- VIN is located on the right side of the steering head
- Sold at authorized GASGAS and Husqvarna dealers nationwide, September 2020 through June 2023

What Should I Do?
Stop using the recalled motorcycles and contact an authorized GASGAS or Husqvarna dealer to schedule a free repair. The dealership will replace the rear brake caliper for free. Owners who paid for a related repair can also request reimbursement with proof of payment.
