JKMAX Heated Blankets Recalled After 53 Burn Injuries Reported
On September 17, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and an Amazon seller called JKMax announced a recall for approximately 195,000 heated blankets and heating pads that can overheat, which poses a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries.
The problem has been linked to an issue with the internal wire heating elements, according to the CPSC:
“The internal wire heating elements of the blankets and pads can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”
How Many People Were Burned?
JKMax told the CPSC it is aware of 577 reports of the blankets or pads smoking, melting, or burning due to the internal wires overheating. Of those reports, 53 involved people who suffered burn injuries.
What Products Were Recalled?
The recall covers all heated blanket and heating pad that JKMax sold on Amazon, which includes model numbers:
- JKMAX-002
- JKMAX-7284B
- JKMAX-6284B
- JKMAX-10090B
- JKMAX-8490B
How To Identify Recalled JKMAX Products
The blankets and heating pads were made of a polyester fabric with internal wire heating elements woven into the fabric.
The blankets and pads were sold in colors like blue, gray, brown, or red. They are made of polyester, machine-washable, came in several sizes, and were sold along with a white remote control.
The remote control is a detachable unit that can be used to adjus the heat-settings and turn the product on or off. The model number is printed on the back of the remote. The model number can also be found on a white label on the product packaging.
The products were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from September 2022 through July 2026.
What Should I Do?
Anyone who owns a recalled JKMAX blanket or heating pad should stop using it immediately and contact JKMax for information on how to get a refund.
The company is urging customers to take the following steps:
- Disconnect power and cease use right away: Unplug the heated blanket and never use it again.
- Disable the power cord: Cut the entire power cord completely to render the blanket inoperable and prevent reuse.
- Prepare supporting materials: Provide your Amazon order number for this product, the unit price paid upon purchase, clear photos of the blanket itself, the controller and the controller plug, and a clear photo of the product care label with the model number clearly visible.
