What is the problem?
In October 2021, a lawsuit was filed against ALDI Inc. by a woman who was burned by an Ambiano Pressure Cooker.
The lawsuit was filed by Tamala B., a woman from Bradford, New York, who claims she suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” on October 26, 2018, when her Ambiano 9 in 1 Programmable Pressure Cooker exploded.
According to the lawsuit, she was able to remove the lid when there was still pressure in the pot, resulting in an explosion of hot food, steam and liquid that caused her to suffer serious burn injuries.
The Ambiano pressure cooker is advertised as having “safety devices” that are supposed to prevent the lid of the from being removed until all the pressure has been released.
However, the lawsuit alleges that the ALDI Ambiano Pressure Cooker is defective because unsuspecting consumers can remove the lid when the cooker is still under pressure.
Removing the lid before it is safe may cause the “scalding hot contents to be projected from the unit and into the surrounding area, including onto the unsuspecting consumers, their families and other bystanders,” according to the complaint.
The Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on October 25, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York — Case Number 6:21-cv-06654-FPG.
