30,000 Heated Blankets Recalled for Fire & Burn Hazards

In November 2023, Berkshire Blanket Inc. recalled about 29,840 heated blankets and throws that can overheat and cause burn injuries or catch on fire.

What is the Problem?

No injuries were reported, but there were 9 reports of the recalled heated blankets overheating, melting, or burning. The problem poses a burn hazard to users as well as a fire hazard.

What Heated Blankets Were Recalled?

The recall involves Berkshire Blanket® and L.L. Bean® Heated Blankets and Throws. They were sold nationwide from August 2022 through October 2023 at L.L. Bean, Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) stores, and online.

Where Were They Sold?

The Berkshire Blanket® heated blankets and throws were sold at Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) stores and online at BerkshireBlanket.com, Amazon, Target, Macys, and QVC.

L.L. Bean stores also sold heated blankets and throws under the brand-names L.L. Bean® and Berkshire Blanket®.

The throws measure about 50 inches wide and 60 inches long and are made of polyester.

The blankets are fit twin-, full/queen- and king-sized beds and are made of polyester.

Both products have a white cord that is attached to a white digital controller unit. The model numbers are on a white label on the back of the controller and also the blanket.
