Bestar Wall Bed Recall
In April 2022, safety officials in the U.S. and Canada announced recalls for nearly 200,000 Bestar wall beds that can detach from the wall and fall onto people nearby, causing serious injuries or death.
What is the Problem?
The beds can become detached from the wall and fall, posing a tip-over and entrapment hazard that can results in serious injury or death, according to the recall notice in Canada.

How Many People Were Injured?
At least 69 people have been injured by Bestar wall beds in the U.S. and Canada, including one person who died. In July 2018, a 79-year-old woman died after a Bestar wall bed fell on her, injuring her spine.
In the U.S., there were 60 reports of people who suffered bruising and other injuries when they were hit by a Bestar wall bed that fell off the wall unexpectedly, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
In Canada, health officials said the company had received 15 reports of the wall beds detaching from the wall, and 8 reports of injuries as of March 28, 2022, according to Health Canada.

Where Were They Sold?
The recalled wall beds were sold online at Wayfair.com, Costco.com, Cymax.com and Amazon.com. The beds were sold from June 2014 through March 2022 for between $1,650 and $2,200.
