March 28, 2024 — BJ’s Wholesale Club has recalled about 90,000 citronella tiki torches after 2 people were burned.
The recall involves Berkley Jensen Citronella 72-inch Tiki Torches, which were sold exclusively at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores nationwide between January 2015 and November 2023.
The problem is that the top of the recalled tiki torches can break open and/or fall off, which poses a risk of burn injuries and a fire hazard.
There were 9 reports of the top of the tiki torches breaking open or falling off, including 2 reports of people who were burned, according to the recall notice.
This recall involves Berkley Jensen® Citronella 72-inch Tiki Torches that were sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club. The torches were sold with copper-plated, nickel-plated, black, or gray torch tops with a fiberglass wick.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled tiki torches and contact the company for information on how to receive a full refund. For more information, check the Product Safety Posting from the company’s website.
