August 6, 2024 — Brompton has recalled about 1,090 T-Line Foldable Bicycles because riders can lose control and crash.
The hazard is a loss of alignment between the handlebar and front wheel due to insufficient torquing of the steerer clamp bolts, which may cause a loss of steering control.
There were 13 reports of incidents of steering misalignment or a loss of steering control worldwide, according to Brompton.
No injuries were reported, but a loss of steering control could cause riders to crash, fall, and suffer serious injuries or death.
The recalled T-Line Foldable Bicycles were sold nationwide at independent bike dealers, Brompton Junction Stores, and online at Brompton’s website between February 2024 and June 2024.
Brompton is urging customers to immediately stop using T-Line Foldable Bikes and contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair to tighten the steerer clamp bolts on the handlebar stem.
