Cap’n Crunch Recall
In November 2018, a recall was issued for 21 boxes of “Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch Cereal” because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses were reported.
The Quaker Oats Co., a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., reported that a sample of a finished product tested positive for Salmonella in a routine sampling program by the manufacturer.
What Cereal Was Recalled?
The recall involves 21 boxes of “Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch” cereal in 17.1-ounce sizes with a UPC code 0 30000 6211 1 and Best Before Dates of “JUL 30 19” or “JUL 31 19.”

The Quaker Oats Co. is asking consumers who bought the recalled cereal not to consume it, and to dispose of it or return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Salmonella Food Poisoning
Salmonella is a bacteria that commonly causes food poisoning, especially in people with vulnerable immune systems. In health people, infections with Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
