February 16, 2024 — Char-Broil recalled more than 211,000 Digital Electric Smokers after at least 79 suffered electrical shocks.
The smokers were recalled because they can leak electrical current when they are being used. Anyone who touches the smoker can suffer an electrical shock injury.
Char-Broil said it received 79 reports of people who suffered minor electrical shocks, including one person who said they developed a blister on their finger after being shocked.
The recall involves several models of Digital Electric Smokers, including:
- Digital Electric Smoker
- Digital Electric Smoker w/Window
- Digital Electric Smoker, Black w/Window
- Digital Electric Smoker, Medallion
- Digital Electric Smoker, Connected
- Digital Electric Smoker, XL
They were sold nationwide between April 2015 and January 2024 at stores like Lowe’s, Menards, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Target, and more.
