Children’s HearMuffs Recalled for Injury Hazards

In September 2022, around 31,150 pairs of Children’s HearMuffs were recalled because the AAA batteries can rupture and cause serious burns or ear injuries to children who are using the ear muffs.

What Are Children’s HearMuffs?

Children’s HearMuffs are advertised to provide ear protection for infants and babies. The package claims that they will “preserve little ears” and “muffle the noise” from concerts, construction, and more.

What is the Problem?

The original AAA alkaline batteries that were sold with the recalled HearMuffs can rupture, which poses a risk of hearing damage, projectile injuries, and burn injuries to infants and young children.

There were no injuries reported as of September 8, but there were 19 reports of ruptured batteries, according to the recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall includes these 4 models of Children’s HearMuffs:

  • LA-infant-AM-WH
  • LA-infant-ASM-WH

  • LA-kids-AM-WH

Where Were They Sold?
