UPDATE: Continental Tire Recalls 3,000 Tires For Risk of Air Loss & Tread Separation

In December 2022, Continental Tire recalled about 2,937 tires due to a risk of tire blowouts, sudden air loss, and/or tread separation. The problem is that the tires were overcured and could develop a break in the sidewall, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA. The recall involves the following tire models:

• 4×4 Contact, size 255/55R19 111V XL
• PureContact LS, size 215/60R16 95V
• TerrainContact H/T, size 255/55R20 107H

Owners will be contacted by Continental Tire by mail after January 12, 2022.

Continental Tire Recalls 100,000 Tires For Risk of Sudden Air Loss

February 15, 2021 — Continental Tire the Americas LLC has issued a recall for nearly 100,000 Continental®, General®, and Barum® tires due to a risk of tire failure and sudden air loss.

Continental recalled the tires because they were over-cured during manufacturing, which could cause the sidewall to break. This could cause sudden tire air loss or a belt edge separation, which could lead to a tread separation, belt loss, and a tire blowout.

If the tire suddenly loses air or the belt edge separates, it can cause a loss of vehicle control, crash, car accident, severe injury or death.
