Cookie Dough Ice Cream Recalls Expand Due to Listeria

October 12, 2016 — Four companies have recalled cookie dough ice cream that may be contaminated with Listeria. No illnesses have been reported.

The supplier of the cookie dough, Aspen Hills Inc., sold 22,000 cases to 27 companies. Aspen Hills has not found Listeria in its products or plant. Last month, Blue Bell recalled ice cream made with Aspen Hills cookie dough that tested positive for Listeria.

Blue Bell Creameries

Blue Bell Creameries: After recalling some cookie dough ice cream in September, Blue Bell expanded the recall to include:

  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (1/2-gallon and pints)
  • Cookie Two Step (1/2-gallon and pints)
  • Blue Monster (3-gallon)
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie (3-gallon)
  • Krazy Kookie Dough (3-gallon)

The ice cream was produced from February 2 through September 7, 2016 and distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Blue Bunny

Blue Bunny: Only one seasonal flavor is being recalled — Hoppin’ Hollidoodle, which has snickerdoodle cookie dough from Aspen Hills. The 46-oz containers were distributed in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona and Texas.

Chocolate Shoppe and Baked Bear Ice Cream

Chocolate Shoppe: Recall issued for about 3-gallon cartons with code dates provided:

  • Cookie Dough Ice Cream 12/29/17, 12/19/17, 12/13/17, 12/6/17, 11/26/17 & 11/15/17
  • Heaps of Love Ice Cream 12/29/17, 11/24/17 & 11/8/17
  • Peanut Butter Cookie Dough 12/1/17 & 11/18/17
  • Sticks & Stones 12/27/17, 12/2/17 & 11/10/17
  • Yippee Skippee 12/1/17

Chocolate Shoppe also recalled pint-sized cookie dough ice cream with code dates 12/13/17, 12/9/17 & 11/26/17.

The recall also includes Baked Bear Cookie Dough ice cream in 3-gallon cartons with code dates 12/6/17, 11/26/17 & 11/15/17

The ice cream was sold at many ice cream shops and some grocery stores, distributed in 25 states: AL, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, OH, OK, PA, SC, TX, WA, WI & WV.

Publix Grocery Store Ice Cream

Publix: Only one flavor was recalled — Premium Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough — sold at Publix grocery stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina. It has a UPC #000-41415-03843 and “Best-By” date of May 27, 2017.
