October 3, 2023 — An ice cream company based in South Carolina recalled certain “Not Fried Chicken” and peach-flavored ice cream due to a risk of food poisoning.
Life Raft Treats recalled the following ice cream products with best-by dates up through and including AUG 8212024:
- Not Fried Chicken (64-oz bucket)
- Not Fried Chicken (2.5-oz. bars, UPC 8 60006 18210 6)
- Life Is Peachy 6-count box ice cream
No illnesses were reported, but the ice cream products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which is a bacteria that can survive freezing and cause serious food poisoning illnesses.
The recall was announced after a sample of Not Fried Chicken ice cream was positive for Listeria, according to the recall. As a precaution, Life Raft Treats also recalled their “Life Is Peachy” ice cream products because it was manufactured in the same room.
The ice cream products were shipped from August 21, 2023 to distribution centers in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Texas.
Life Raft Treats is urging consumers to throw away the recalled items, or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
