Costco Shower Bench Recall
In September 2021, Ivena International Pte. Ltd. issued a recall for around 70,000 shower benches that were exclusively sold at Costco stores.
What is the Problem?
The shower benches were recalled after consumers reported 81 incidents of the shower benches collapsing, breaking during use, or falling apart, including 4 people who fell and suffered injuries.
What Injuries Were Reported?
- Falls
- Fractured tailbone
- Persistent head and body aches
- Bruises
What Shower Benches Were Recalled?
The recall involves Ivena 20″ teak shower benches. Item number 1049998 and UPC 8886474018015 are printed on the exterior packaging. The bench has a label that says, “100% wood from well-managed forests.”
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled shower benches were sold at Costco stores nationwide and online at Costco.com from October 2018 through June 2021 for about $80 in stores and $90 online.
Costco is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled shower benches and return them to Costco for a full refund.
