Cove Dishwasher Recall
In June 2021, Cove Appliance Inc. recalled about 42,000 dishwashers due to a fire hazard. No injuries were reported, but there were 5 reports of burning smells, flames and smoke inside the dishwasher.
What is the Problem?
The dishwashers were recalled because the heating element can fail to properly shut off and overheat, posing a fire hazard.
What Dishwashers Were Recalled?
The recall involves Cove Appliance 24-inch built-in residential dishwashers with Model #DW2450 and #DW2450WS. The dishwashers also have serial numbers 20000100 through 20044445.
The model number, serial number and date code are printed on the product rating plate located inside the dishwasher. “Cove” is printed on the outside of the door and on the far right side of the control panel, located on the top of the unit’s door.
Where Were They Sold?
The recalled dishwashers were sold at home appliance stores nationwide from February 2018 to May 2021 for $2,400-$2,500.
Cove Appliance is asking consumers to immediately stop using the recalled dishwashers, unplug them from their power source, and contact Cove Appliance to schedule a free repair.
