Cuisinart Recalls 8 Million Food Processors

December 12, 2016 — Over 8 million Cuisinart food processors were recalled after 69 consumers reported finding broken pieces of the metal blade in their food, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

What is the Problem?

Recalled Cuisinart BladeThe riveted metal blade in the food processor can crack over time. The problem is that small metal pieces of the blade can break off into the processed food, which poses a laceration hazard to consumers. According to CPSC Chairman Elliot Kaye:

“These are in millions of American homes, including my own. With all the cooking that’s going on this holiday season, we’re really urging consumers to act immediately.”

How Many People Were Injured?

Conair Corp., the company that sells Cuisinart food processors, has received 30 reports of consumers who were injured by mouth lacerations or tooth injuries from metal pieces of the blade in food.recalled-food-processor

The recalled Cuisinart food processor blades were sold from July 1996 and December 2015 for between $100 and $350 at various department stores and online retailers all over the United States.recall_stamp

The popular kitchen appliances had the word “Cuisinart” printed on the front and bottom. The recall includes the following 22 model-numbers:

CFP-9, CFP-11, DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14, DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014, EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14, KFP-7 and MP-14.

Consumers: Get a Free Replacement Blade

Consumers should stop using the recalled food processor and contact Conair for a free replacement blade. Only blades with 4 rivets are being recalled. The rest of the machine is not being recalled, so do not return it.
