December 20, 2019 — A recall has been issued for Chadwick and Bailey five-drawer dressers sold at Bob’s Discount Furniture due to a tip-over hazard.
On December 18, the recall was announced for about 31,000 five-drawer chests because they can tip over if they are not anchored to the wall, resulting in death or serious injury to a child.
No injuries were reported. The recall was issued because the chests do not comply with the performance requirements of the U.S. voluntary industry standard (ASTM F2057-17).
This recall involves the Chadwick and Bailey 5-drawer wood chests in white, mission oak, espresso and dove gray colors. The name “Hillsdale Furniture” is printed on a label on the back of the chest.
Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chest that is not properly anchored to the wall and put it in an area that children cannot access, according to the CPSC.
They were sold at Bob’s Discount Furniture and other retailers nationwide from August 2010 through August 2019 for about $280.
The manufacturers are asking consumers to contact Bob’s Discount Furniture or Hillsdale Furniture for a free repair or refund. The company is offering a free self-install repair kit, free in-home installation of the repair kit, or a free pick-up of the recalled chest.
