January 12, 2024 — Alliance4Safety has recalled millions of anti-tip kits that may fail to prevent furniture from tipping over, which poses a risk of severe injury or death, especially for children.
The recall involves plastic New Age Furniture Restraint Kits that were sold by 31 furniture companies.
The problem is that a plastic zip-tie in the anti-tip kit can become brittle or break, which can allow a dresser or other piece of furniture to detach and tip over instead of remaining anchored to the wall.
This safety hazard poses “a tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in death or serious injuries to children.” No injuries were reported, but there were 2 reports of the anti-tip kits breaking.
The list of furniture companies that used these recalled anti-tip kits after November 2019 includes:
- American Drew
- American Woodcrafters
- Amini Innovation Corporation
- Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC
- Aspenhome
- Austin Group Furniture, LLC

If so, and if the tip kit is made of plastic, consumers should contact Alliance4Safety for a free replacement tip kit. Keep children away from the unit while waiting for a replacement tip kit.
