Edsal Manufacturing Recalls 2.2 Million Shelving Units
February 10, 2021 — Edsal Manufacturing Company has recalled around 2,200,000 Muscle Rack Heavy-Duty Steel Shelving Units due to a risk of the shelves breaking, which could cause severe injuries to people who are hit by falling items.
What is the Problem?
The recalled shelving units may fail to support the 800-pound load that is advertised on the package, according to Edsal. The company said it has received 7 reports of the shelves bending or breaking under load.
Has Anyone Been Injured?
One person suffered a broken toe when heavy items fell off a recalled shelving unit that broke, according to Edsal Manufacturing.
What Shelving Units Were Recalled?
Edsal has recalled 5-Tier Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Units, which have gray or black steel frames, five plywood shelves, and Models CR3618, CR3618-BLK, CR4824 or CR4824-BLK.
The recalled shelves were sold for $80-$90 online at Amazon.com, Staples.com, Walmart.com and other online retailers from January 2015 through September 2020. Edsal is offering a full refund.
