April 11, 2024 — Excalibur Crossbows has recalled about 15,000 C2 Crank Cocking Aids for Crossbows after hundreds of reports of plastic parts breaking.
The problem is that the C2 Crank’s cocking hooks can break during use, causing the plastic hooks to fly off and hit people nearby.
One person was hit by a flying plastic projectile and suffered a “permanent eye injury,” according to the recall.
Excalibur said it receive 538 reports of the C2 Crank Cocking Aid Hooks breaking during use, resulting in plastic pieces flying and hitting people.
The recalled C2 Crank Cocking Aids were sold from January 2008 through December 2021 for about $190 at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and other stores nationwide and online at excaliburcrossbow.com, ebay.com and amazon.com.
The manufacturer is urging customers to stop using the recalled C2 Crank and visit the recall website at https://excaliburcrossbow.com/c2-crank-recall/.
