Ravin Crossbows Re-Announces Recall for Arrow Nocks After More Injuries Reported

In August 2021, Raving Crossbows re-announced a recall for about 220,000 white arrow nocks after more serious finger injuries were reported.

What is the Problem?

If the white arrow nocks are not fully engaged with the bowstring, the crossbow may not discharge when the trigger is pulled. This can cause the the bow to discharge unexpectedly while a user is re-nocking the arrow, posing a risk of serious finger injuries.

Original Recall Announced in December 2017

The white arrow nocks were previously recalled by Ravin Crossbows in December 2017. At the time, there were 44 reports of the arrow nocks malfunctioning and 23 reports of finger injuries, including 6 serious injuries.

How Many Injuries Have Been Reported?

As of August 2021, at least 51 finger injuries have occurred when a user was nocking or re-nocking the white nocks. At least 21 people suffered serious injuries. There have been 28 new finger injuries reported since the original recall, according to Ravin Crossbows.

Ravin also said there were “reports of other injuries resulting from maintenance and other issues,” according to the recall notice.

What Arrow Nocks Were Recalled?

The recall includes all white plastic molded clip-on nocks that are used with arrows for Ravin® crossbows. They were sold in a package of 12, or as original equipment with Ravin R9 crossbows, R15 crossbows and Ravin arrows.

They were sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and other stores nationwide from October 2016 to November 2017.
