Farberware Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Filed Against Walmart

In March 2022, a woman from New York filed a Farberware Pressure Cooker lawsuit against Walmart. The plaintiff, Jean H., claims that the lid blew off of her pressure cooker when she was using it normally. She suffered severe, disfiguring burns to her arms and breasts, which required medical treatment.

“After the cooking cycle had completed and the steam was in the process of being released, the pressure cooker’s lid unexpectedly and suddenly blew off the pot in an explosive manner.”

The Walmart Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed against Walmart Inc. (formerly known as Wal-Mart Stores Inc.) on March 25, 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York — Case Number 6:22-cv-00290-MAD-TWD.

Farberware Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Alleges Lid Can Be Opened Before It Is Safe

In January 2022, a woman who was burned by a Farberware Pressure Cooker filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer. The lawsuit was filed by Lasheone G., a woman who alleges that her Farberware 7-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker (Model WM-CSS6004W) was defective and unreasonably dangerous to use.

What Happened?

The incident occurred on January 19, 2019. According to the lawsuit, she was able to remove the lid while the pressure cooker was still pressurized, causing her serious injuries, including 1st-degree and 2nd-degree burns to her abdomen, breasts and lower extremities.

In her lawsuit, she accuses Farberware of falsely advertising the pressure cooker’s “safety features,” which failed to keep her safe.

Specifically, the pressure cooker was advertised to have “large locking lid to prevents the cooker from opening while pressurized,” according to the lawsuit. Instead, she was able to easily open the lid when it was pressurized, resulting in an explosion of boiling-hot food and liquid.

The Farberware Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on January 13, 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Detroit Division) — Case Number 2:22-cv-10082-SJM-JJCG.

Another Farberware Pressure Cooker Lawsuit Claims Lid Blew Off During Use

In November 2021, a woman from Louisiana filed a lawsuit against Farberware alleging that the lid on her pressure cooker was defective.

The lawsuit was filed by Gabrielle M., a woman who claims that she was severely burned by a Farberware 7-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker on November 17, 2020.

According to the lawsuit, her injuries occurred as a result of the “pressure cooker’s lid suddenly and unexpectedly exploding off the pressure cooker’s pot…allowing its scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker” and all over her body.

The lawsuit was filed on November 10, 2021 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (Shreveport Division) — Case Number 5:21-cv-03926-SMH-MLH.
